“Before you get ‘sick'”

You know that it is required to wash your hands and keep a far distance away from that sneezing co-worker. But what about the healthy foods you wish to battle that sniffliest time of the year?

Throughout this page, you will find some advice about some foods that promote weight loss and immune systems boost… (That will keep you away from the doc, of course) …and that will also help you lose a few pounds, while you’re at it.

Weight loss AND boost your immune system?? This oughta be interesting!

Gretchen Gretchen
I would still much rather eat big meals…

Hector Hector
Well no wonder why you’re way unhealthier than me… And that’s shocking.

Gretchen Gretchen
Hey…. I’m a lot healthier than you… And I also have a lot more energy than you do too.

You guys should follow these 6 delicious foods, and stop arguing…

“Oranges”

There is really no ailment that orange can’t help with: They fight viruses, give you electrolytes, and help repair tissue and bone strength. That being said, oranges have not been proven to prevent a cold from happening. They can help you when you’re already on the couch, though. Plus, the juicy flavor can satisfy your sweet tooth for way fewer calories than baked goods or candies pack.

kale

“Kale”

It’s the food of the moment for a reason: Kale is packed with boosting immune systems antioxidants, and each leaf gives you the major bang for your buck (or bite). It is recommended that you saute it in garlic and olive oil, although you’ll want to skip covering it in a pound of cheese, as many restaurants do.

“Spending time with you weakens my defenses, especially my immune system. Cooties from you is totally worth it.”

immune systems yogurt

“Yogurt”

It’s not only a low-calorie breakfast type of food. The probiotics in your morning meal benefit you to keeping balance, exclusively on your digestive tract. It operates like a lock and key to hold the acceptable stuff in and the awful stuff out.

“Garlic”

You really do not need to be advised how much flavor garlic delivers to a dish. But it is also a cancer fighter that is packed with antioxidant compounds. Garlic belongs to the allium family, which contains onions, leeks, and shallots. They are all so great for you, and they all make your food more pleasing without adding a lot of fat to it.

“I don’t exactly hate you… But if you were on fire, and I had water.. I’d drink it.”

“Tea and honey”

Tea is extremely reassuring when you’re depressed sitting on the couch, but that is not all it has to suggest. Hot foods benefit congestion and loosen mucus. Honey can also soothe throats that hurt from coughing so bad, so add a dollop to your most favorite brew. You do not have to be concerned about all the sugar in that honey, either – green tea has been confirmed to boost metabolism.

immune systems chicken noodle soup

“Chicken soup”

Yes, you can give granny the credit she earns for this one. The hot broth divides congestion, the chicken’s protein helps reconstruct your cells, and the veggies are loaded with antioxidants. The catch? The compounds require to come from making it by yourself. A can is not benefiting you not nearly as much. The pre-made kind is packed with preservatives and sodium, so make it by yourself from scratch in your kitchen to save calories and enjoy a well-balanced meal.

“Mushrooms”

No herbal medicine cabinet should never go without mushrooms. They boost the production of cytokines, that are cells which help curb infection. They also contain polysaccharides, which are compounds that support immune systems. The most compelling cold-and-flu-fighting mushrooms are known as shitake, maitake, and reishi.

immune systems ginger

“Ginger”

Ginger is extremely beneficial when we are sick in some powerful ways. Besides comforting a scratchy throat, it has chemicals known as sesquiterpenes that target rhinoviruses – which are the more popular family of cold viruses – as well as element that help restrain coughing.

Ginger is also known as a great natural pain and fever reducer and a mild soothing so you will feel more convenient and be able to relax a lot easier. Add about two tablespoons of shredded ginger root to your tea, or make ginger tea (it comes in tea bags, but you can simmer fresh sliced ginger to make a powerful brew as well).

immune systems citrus fruits

“Citrus fruits”

Citrus fruits contain hefty doses of powerful vitamin C. Studies have found that this antioxidant can reduce cold symptoms by 23%, and all that’s needed is just 1-8 grams (1000-8000 mg) to do the trick. Besides citrus fruits, other related foods that have greater amounts of vitamin C involve tomatoes, papaya, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, broccoli, red bell peppers, and butternut squash.
