“Step 1”

Make a weight losses body wrap with a variety of ingredients found in nature, and in your pantry as well. You can make a herbal body wrap with essential oils like lavender, lemongrass, sage or sandalwood, or herbs such as rose petals, chamomile flower powder or clay (green clay stimulates circulation and detoxifies the skin). Buy these ingredients at a natural health food store or order them online.

For example, a clay body wrap recipe includes 1 cup of green clay, 1/4 cup of sea salt, 2 tbsp of olive oil, and 2 cups of water. Boil the water and sea salt together until the sea salt dissolves and then turn off the heat and add the remaining ingredients. Allow to cool and then rub the mixture all over your body.

“Step 2”

Wrap your body in a sheet or thin towels, or use plastic cling wrap. Start at your feet, rolling or wrapping your legs separately, as if you’re applying a bandage. Then, wrap your hips and torso, then your arms. This can be a little tricky if you do it yourself, but if you feel comfortable, have a friend do the wrapping part for faster, neater application, until you get the hang of it. If you wrap yourself in a sheet, pull and gather it as tightly to your body as you can.

“Step 3”

Lie down for about 45 minutes. Because the process is messy, you can lay down in the bathtub to keep your house clean. Line the bathtub with towels and use a towel as a cushion to make it more comfortable. If you lie on your floor or bed, place an old blanket or sheet down first so you don’t stain your furniture or carpet with the weight losses wrap ingredients.

“Step 4”

Rinse the weight losses wrap off after 45 minutes. Stand in the tub and shake off any residue that clings to the sheets or towels into the bathtub for easier clean up. Rinse using tepid to warm water. Don’t shock your system by using cold or hot water. Gently rub and massage the skin as you rinse.

Gently pat your skin dry. Put on loose clothing to encourage ventilation to skin pores and take it easy for a few hours. The body wraps encourage drainage of the lymph nodes, which offer immune and infection-fighting properties to the bloodstream. Following a detox or weight losses wrap, excess fluids will build up in the lymph system, so drink one or two glasses of water following the wrap to hasten urination and drainage of excess lymph and wastes from the body.

When I think of wrapping the entire body up in cloth, like a mummy, or worse yet, plastic wrap – then I start to worry about people overheating, sweating without evaporation, which defeats the purpose of sweat in the first place, and ultimately you end up overheated and feeling weak.

If it goes too far, then people can become light-headed and slow-thinking, perhaps dazed for a while.

“Speaking of weight losses in general…”

It’s medically inadvisable and very unhealthy to lose more than two or three pounds in a week. Better to take it slow and easy. That way, you’ll have a much better chance of taking that weight off and keeping it off, which is where you want it … not coming right back on after the next fad diet has passed.
