“Crafting as therapy”

For plenty of years, scientists have accepted that the act of crafting makes us feel fantastic. Crafting, such as printable scrapbooking, for instance, expands self-esteem while helping you form new skills and a sense of achievement. “What is the link between weight loss and crafting?”

It’s difficult to eat with glue and glitter on your hands! And you wouldn’t want to get food on your work, would you? Printable scrapbooking activate the creative part of your brain, keep your hands busy – you are in the flow. Hours can go by quickly, and you wouldn’t even notice! Crafting is not only a hobby, but it is also a very powerful tool.

“Why should people keep a journal?”

Studies show that those who keep food journals lose more. If you are committed to writing every bite down, you are less likely to pop something in your mouth.
And for crafters, for those who love printable scrapbooking for example, you can combine keeping a journal with making a scrapbook. You can track your food and make it pretty at the same time by adding sparkles, photos, stickers, and plenty more!

“For my oldest, I have a spectacular scrapbook. For my middle child, I have a crappy photo album. And for my youngest, I have a few pics on a memory card.”

“Here’s an idea…”

Create new pages to track your progress on a weekly or monthly schedule. Include some new photos and write down your feelings about the changes in your life and your thoughts about your progress so far, as well. Make notes of new foods or activities that you’ve enjoyed during your weight loss journey. Draw pictures or include food labels to remind you of these new discoveries.

Craft tip:

Collect pictures of everything! You’ll especially want pictures of your cheer leaders – your friends and family and the weight loss buddies who’ve supported you along the way.

“Here are some more ideas!”

There’s nothing more critical than your “before” pictures to keep you motivated to move ahead. Use them and admire them for the lessons they educate, the history they mark and the new beginning they launch. Snap pictures throughout your weight loss journey and accumulate them on category pages for constant encouragement of where you have been, and where you are heading.
You can assemble pictures from magazines or food labels as well. Cut out the clothes you would love and desire to wear from fashion magazines or print straight from online on the computer. Taking photos of yourself working out is also a fantastic concept.

Jessica Jessica
That looks so fantastic so far, Brittany. I really wanna see it when your all finished!

Brittany Brittany
Awe, thanks Jess. Yeah, for sure… I won’t be finished for a while though! You should also start one since we are both on the same journey! We can work together.

Jessica Jessica
Oh what a great idea, sounds so much fun! I’m excited!

Laaaaaame…
