Ancient folks had uncomfortable headrests, OR, the top curved surface of the headrest or stool, represents the barrier to the next higher-density-reality-torus. So it's probably mostly a symbol.

Side loops on stools, headrests and chalices mark the barrier to a higher-density torus, with the top rim as the horizontal plane and the cat a horizo

Image G's narrow neck has painting on it, which is a diagram that explains the meaning of the side loop handles and the top rim.

The surreal artist of image C, for the literal-minded folks, it looks filled with water to the rim, but to symbolic-minded folks, that strata layer appearance is a cross-section of the horizontal plane of a torus. The cat is just a horizontal animal, it's rounded back is making a central mound symbol, often found at the bottom-center of layouts. https://ca.pinterest.com/stevenbhalls/central-mound-animals/

Summary, it was nice to recognize the African stools and headrests as sharing the same symbolism as other pottery and glassware, giving us another great resource to study.
