Sistrum Symbolism: Torus Flow and Side Loops
Sistrum's horizontal flow and side-loops. My last post about the sistrum in January, https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Ag3iiz9nv/ was good, and today I want to show you the equivalence of image A, B and C, because image A provides great clues to it's meaning.
The empty space is like a "void" symbol, representing the core of a torus. False doors and "niches" also come to mind, and also mean the core. (My void collection has many surprising examples. https://ca.pinterest.com/stevenbhalls/void/ ) The core is a high-density place that seems empty to us.
I recognize the rectangular shape around the core, on image A, as a torus symbol. (more examples: https://ca.pinterest.com/stevenbhalls/rectangular-barrier/ ) It has a portal above it, and one below it on Hathor's head. (A Hathor head is often a portal symbol). The central flow path goes up in this case, but the curly line symbols on the outside of the rectangular shape are showing downward side flow.
The wires are horizontal flow passing through the core, and sometimes they go up, or down, after exiting. But many examples like image C have sideways loop-backs. Image C uses long-neck-birds, but snakes also work to show a side loop flow path. (More sistrums: https://ca.pinterest.com/stevenbhalls/sistrum/ )
Look at the horizontal plane of the sun near image D, where those plasma eruptions do loop-backs. Look at the droopy decorations on the horizontal plane of that glass container in image E, those are also doing side loops that loop back to the same horizontal plane.
I don't know why many sistrums have metal sound-making disks on the wires... (apart from the "musical instrument" story, which satisfies most people to stop thinking). I don't know why there are 3 or 4 wires, usually, my only guess is to teach that multiple flows are going through the core at any moment.
The sistrum is usually used very simply to mean an upward flow to a higher density. The wires seem to be there to teach bonus information to Egyptian students who ask questions.
