The Egyptian "sidelock" hair is not about youth, so ignore every website saying otherwise. It is a side flow connection from a body-torus to a head-torus, horizontal plane to horizontal plane, it's a side loop. All side flows are etheric, and symbolism uses child-symbols or small-person-symbols as a way to mark something as etheric/high-density.

Images A to G from Egyptian symbolism showing sidelock hair as a side flow connection between body-torus and head-torus, interchangeable with striped hair, with breasts as portals and Hathor bilateral sidelocks.

So yes, sometimes sidelocks are seen on a child in a pictogram. Image A and B, notice the identical markers held in the hands. The sidelock braided hair is interchangable with the stripes hair. Breasts are also used as portals of the body-torus, and notice that stripes hair on image E is interchangable with the sidelock hair of C and D. Same meaning. Image C you could call it a bilateral sidelock. Sometimes Hathor hair is like bilateral sidelock, image G. Image F is a sidelock using vertical stripes like image B. So it's all interchangable, and the majority of sidelocks are not on children.
