Snakes generally show a flow direction, but their bodies can also be used to make shapes. Rings are a very common portal symbol. Image A has a ring portal for the straight leg (downward flow) and a different ring for the bent leg (upward flow).

Images A and B showing snakes coiled into ring portal symbols: one ring for a downward straight leg and another for an upward bent leg on a staff with an unusual neck tilt toward the downward side, and ring portals at the hands and waist of a body-torus with a snake head completing a side loop up to the head-torus horizontal plane at ear level.

That staff has a downward flow direction, and when you see an unusual neck tilt, it is often toward the downward flow side. The snake head is showing the opposite side having upward flow. Image B has ring portals for both hands (hands can be portal symbols on their own). There is a portal at the waist (the horizontal plane of the body-torus. The ring close to letter B, I'm guessing it represents the portal to a higher density above the body torus, and the snake head is completing a side loop from the body-torus horizontal plane, to the head-torus horizontal plane (at ears level).

Deception is part of the "Art", and it is likely that image B comes from a book about astronomy or zodiac. The writing in a book and what the pictograms show, can be completely different topics.
