Straight up, curvy down. Image A's anchor has a center flow path, which should be bidirectional in symbolism. The downward fish with its curvy body was something I didn't understand until recently.

Straight up, curvy down. Anchors, crowns, lions and bulls carry upward or bidirectional polarities, while curvy fish and zig-zag cloth are downward flow symbols, because of their curvy lines.

Image B is by Keshav, an artist/master of symbolism. A center flow path with upward and downward flow components is what you are seeing. The little folks are side flow symbols, the crown is upward, the bull is downard.

Image C has both polarities, lion upward, anchor+fish is bidirectional. The lion tail is also showing up.

Image D has cloth in a pattern I call zig-zag cloth, and I've known for a long time that it meant downward flow, but now we finally have a reason to explain why, its the curvy lines. Examples in here: https://ca.pinterest.com/stevenbhalls/zigzag-cloth/
