Snake Troubles: Coexistant Opposite Flow Directions
Snake troubles? Me too. For years, the snake as a flow symbol, had an easy one-way flow direction meaning, from tail to head. Then sometime this year, it dawned on me that the curvy snake body can also mean coexistant opposite flow directions. That was in my "straight versus curved lines" posts that developed from looking at Arabic calligraphy. This post today shows snake tails with flame outflows, similar to the heads, so WFT? Wherefore fekken thusly?
Another irritant, look at the Makara on image C, it has the curly flamey outflow from its upper lip, but it has wavy parallel lines from it's tail outflow. Image E also has this, the tail and upper lip have similar flamey+snaketail outflow, whereas the back of the snakehead (and possibly it's tongue), have the parallel lines kind of outflow. What is the difference in meaning? I don't know the answer yet. Fire on the outer surface of halos and portals is going to be a similar question. Image D gives me a chance to show an ear portal with curly fire outflow from its edges. I've working on this for days, I needed a break, so this post marks my progress so far.
