Horizontal Fish as a Flow Symbol and Dimension Barrier
The horizontal plane of a person-symbol representing a torus is often at the waist. A fish can symbolize an energy flow crossing the horizontal plane, with an inflow at the tail and outflow at the head.
That same fish in image A can also represent the barrier to the next higher dimension, where anything above the waist is referring to a higher dimension context.
Image B uses the fish as the bottom barrier, and the feet are the portals. Rarely, the fish can represent a top barrier too (no example shown).
Image C uses the brim of a cup as the horizontal dimension barrier, and the fish is there as an extra hint about that. Notice the usual order of IC XC is shown as XC and IC. They can be reversed because opposite polarity symbols can appear on either side. (I and Y have the same symbol meaning).
I know that Greek dictionaries would say ΙΧΘΥΣ means fish, which is oblivious to the meaning of the letter-symbols. And I know theta, upsilon, chi, etc. no need to educate me. I can do posts about each letter-symbol meaning, with image evidence.
At a basic level, people learned that a fish is somehow a religious symbol. We are now getting closer to understanding how it refers to a heavenly higher dimension.
The understanding of a horizontal fish on image D and F has persisted into the iconography on image E. The open mouth is a portal at that horizontal dimension barrier.
Laugh at "fish god, dogon", next time you see that.
