People being energy flow symbols, and arms and legs being flux tubes in symbolism (which might be broken into pieces). The bottom zone of a symbolism pictogram is usually the south inflow zone of a torus.

Horizontal people-symbols with arms and legs as flux tubes, some broken into pieces, set in the bottom south-inflow zone of a torus. A tree trunk marks the central flow path, with weak and withered energy remnants drawn upward to a higher dimension. Big dots in the top outflow zone, little fires on the people, and lack of clothing (no barrier) mark spilled energy being cleaned and recycled by the south inflow.

A tree trunk is usually representing the central flow path through a torus from south to north. The top of the trunk where branches begin is considered the start of the next higher dimension. Think of image B as having weak and withered energy remnants that must be drawn upward through the torus, up into the next high dimension where that energy becomes refreshed and higher-density before it returns back down to us.

Image A has big dots in the top outflow zone, and I am assuming the dots are energy flowing downward, becoming smaller by deflating toward the bottom zone. The little fires on those horizontal people indicate they have some upward flow to continue their energy journey.

Another aspect in symbolism is lack of clothing. Clothing is often the barrier around a torus or the outer wall of flux tubes (sleeves on arms). These weak people-symbols are not within those barriers, and I interpret this to mean the energy has spilled out of flux tubes and gets "cleaned up" by the south inflow zone. Cleanup and recycling of aetheric debris.

This gives a fresh and non-literal possible meaning. For me, it continues to make sense, having collected many examples.

When literal-minded story-tellers, or museum labels tell of macabre historical events, those might be shocking and have viral narrative value, but might be made up.
